Bytecraft Entertainment installs superscreen at Melbourne’s newest stadium AAMI Park

Bytecraft Entertainment were thrilled with the results of Melbourne’s newest LED video display - the huge screen measures 51.84 sqm (9.6 Metres wide x 5.4 Metres High) and utilises Lighthouse P12- ER LED panels. It is made up of 27 panels (6 wide x 4.5 high). A special half height panel was made to allow the screen to be a perfect 16:9 aspect ratio.

 

Work commenced at the Stadium in December 2009 and the screen was fully commissioned on 6th April 2010 for use at the stadium Open Day on Thursday 25th March and the first game on Friday 7th May.

AAMI PARK SUPERSCREEN – THE FACTS

 

Bytecraft super screens are manufactured using Light Emitting Diodes (LED’s), the Video screens have a combination of coloured LED’s Red, Green & Blue. All of the LED’s used in this system have a viewing angle of 140.

Panels   (P12-ER) The screen is modular; it is made up of individual panels.

  • Each panel is 1600 mm wide x 1200 mm high.
  • Each panel has 24 x IM’s (Intelligent Module)
  • Each IM has 16 pixels wide x 8 pixels high
  • Each Pixel has 1 x red, 2 x green, 1 x blue LED’s
  • Each pixel is 25 mm physical pitch or 12.5 mm dot pitch
  • Each IM has 512 LED’s
  • Therefore a panel has 3072 pixels which is 12,288 LED’s
  • Brightness Capability >5000 Nits (Candela per square meter).

 

Screen

 

  • The Screen actual video display area measures 51.84 Square Metres
  • 9.6 Metres wide x 5.4 Metres High
  • This is made up of 6 panels wide x 4.5 panels high. A special half height panel was made to allow the screen to be a perfect 16:9 aspect ratio.
  • This equates to an equivalent of 27 panels = 331,776 LED’s for each screen
  • 35 Amps (Approx) per phase on full brightness White
  • 12 Amps (Approx) per phase during play of a live day game, brightness 5000 nits
  • 4 Amps (Approx) per phase during play of a night game, brightness 1000 nits
  • 3 Amps (Approx) per phase at idle (Black)

 

Weights

 

A full height panel weighs 101 kg’s Each screens weight is approximately 2.8 tonne and does not include supporting structure, frames, handrails, walkways, or mounting to the concrete plats.
